The only good thing about neoliberalism in America is that it is hollowing out American military complex too. This is providing breathing space in many parts of world.
It's a shocking thing to realise the leadership of the whole West is wedded to an economic philosophy that impoverishes their populations and have no interest in changing course. I am pessimistic about the future as well.
Neoliberalisme will lead to the end of a human society. The power of a few combined with huge propaganda playing on the emotions of the population (including greed) is devastating for every form of human society. For once: just leave others alone. Don’t ‘enforce’ the ideology on others because it will make some extremely rich, but will make life less good for the majority. Many things may have been wrong in eastern Germany, but the west doesn’t offer paradise either, especially wrt to the hugely promoted individualisme that makes many feel ‘alone’ in their fight for better circumstances, benefiting the ones in power. I am pessimistic about the future.
Chinese women are the best educated females on the planet. They dominate business, holding the majority of executive posts, have high social status, high incomes, strong pressure to have babies, but they're digging their heels in. We'll have to wait and see what comes out of the current drive to persuade them, I guess,
