The US elite civil war has continued to escalate, with one side (“the Establishment”) represented by the Democratic National Committee (DNC), the Republican “never Trumpers” and the mainstream media (MSM), while the other is represented by the attempted usurper Trump. As it became more obvious that Trump would be the Republican 2024 presidential candidate and as a court ruled against the extensive US state interference within social media, the Establishment upped their game.
On July 4th a court ruled that the US state must cease and desist from interfering with social media. This has been appealed by the Biden administration and will go all the way to the Supreme Court; given that court’s conservative bias and the extensive evidence of state media manipulation the ruling may very well go against the government.
Matt Taibbi and others, through their analysis of the twitter files have shown the extensive nature of the management of the allowable discourse by the US state – even with respect to academic journal papers. So much for the “independent” media.
With their ability to manipulate social media removed, and X (previously twitter) now owned by Elon Musk, the electoral media playing field will be significantly more level than in 2020. With falling viewership, even outlets such as CNN have also become slightly less partisan. Together with Trump’s re-emergence as the unassailable Republican front-runner for 2024, this has caused panic within the Establishment. The result has been intensified lawfare as attorney general’s within Establishment jurisdictions (Washington D.C. and New York City) have raised one indictment after another against Trump, all of which are weak on real proof and highly flexible in their interpretation of the law. It is sad that I have to use Fox News as a reference, but the other mainstream media is so biased as to be utterly useless. Much of the “left” already jumped the shark with respect to Trump Derangement Syndrome years ago. Here is Bill Barr’s take on the “false business records” case with respect to the Stormy Daniels payments:
Then there is the state records case, where Trump is being prosecuted for what many other presidents have done. For example, Biden with state records found completely unprotected in a garage.
The greatest stretch is in the indictments that are trying to prove that Trump directly incited the Capitol troubles of January 6th, prosecuting Trump for using his First Amendment rights.
With these indictments, the Establishment may be flying far too close to the Sun. There is much about January 6th that has been kept away from the public, which is now coming out. Here is the head of the Capitol Police, pointing out extensive factual support for the view that the protestors were set up on January 6th, 2021. It is notable that Tucker Carlson had previously interviewed this person while at Fox News, but he was fired just before the interview was to air. It was never aired. Fox may be rueing the day that they tried to silence Carlson, as he simply ended up with a bigger platform without the limitations that Fox imposed upon him.
The multiple charges brought against Trump have the possibility of backfiring as they provide Trump and his lawyers with the ability to use the rules of discovery to bring out into the open much more than their opponents want. With the trials also seen by vast swathes of the US population as politically motivated, they may increase rather than decrease his support among the US population.
And in other news, a judge rejected the sweetheart deal that was given to Hunter Biden by the administration headed up by his father, this is banana republic territory. Thankfully, one judge did their job, unearthing an assumption of future immunity by Biden’s lawyers that caused the deal to collapse. Also, whistleblowers have come forward to show that the Department of Justice worked hard to ignore proof of more serious charges.
Then we have the congressional hearings covering the myriad of ways in which Biden Jr. has been remunerated for political access, for example through the ridiculous sales of his paintings.
This is outright elite warfare in full view of the public (unless you watch the mainstream media) and threatens the whole credibility and legitimacy of the capitalist ruling class in the US. One possibility is that “cooler heads” will prevail to protect the overall interests of the capitalist class. The Biden’s will be thrown under the bus, possibly together with Fauci, while the cases against Trump will be allowed to drag on without major impact. At the same time Trump will agree that he will only go after a few easy targets if he gets elected, but no major challenge to the Establishment will be initiated. Then the US capitalist class can continue with trying to stop China developing, while making Ukraine go away. This is basically mafia-style politics, with an attempt to stop the differing families from destroying the mafia itself and endangering class goals. Sometimes though, nothing can stop the families from committing fratricide. The next 15 months will be interesting times…
"And in other news, a judge rejected the sweetheart deal that was given to Hunter Biden by the administration headed up by his father, this is banana republic territory. "
I have to listen to it again, Robert Barns on VivaFrei saying that even though the judge rejected the plea bargain, the IMMUNITY deal stands! Really, I hope I heard that wrong, gotta listen again; I think this is the link:

This is banana republic sure, but really, it's a COUP.
"With their ability to manipulate social media removed" they will literally just break the law and mess around and tell fb, Twitter, etc. to remove posts anyway. Elon Musk, actually obliged more censorship requests from the FBI than the previous owners.
The dumb president contest doesn't matter anyway. The only good candidate is Cornell West and he doesn't even have ballot access in 2/3 of the states. I will go to bed election night early and get a good night's sleep.
