Unfortunately, these statistics will fall on deaf ears among the average American. As long as their house and stock prices keep going up, they will remain convinced that "socialism" doesn't work and "capitalism" does. I use quotes because ultimately, as Deng put it, "it doesn't matter what color a cat is as long as it catches mice". These ism words often obscure more than clarify. What really matters is the quality of the elite. It is possible to leave the commanding heights (banking, Wall Street, infrastructure) in the hands of the private sector as long as there are competent and non-corrupt regulators, such as in USA in the 1940-1980 period. Conversely, total state ownership of the economy does not protect from corruption by a self serving hereditary elite, such as what developed in USSR after 1960.

As for Cuba, their best bet is probably to give Trump the "deal" he wants: a few square miles of waterfront property for a Trump Havana hotel and golf course complex.

propaganda doesnt have to be wrong. It has to be vicious. It was a total success,.especially for the soviet people,.who believed the west was parasdise, and also because outmanouvred the soviet propaganda, based on happiness, not "freedom". Today, every media outlet is propagamda in the west.

First, I often read articles from "New Left" Western Marxists denigrating China, accusing her of taking the capitalist road, exploiting her people, and so on, that never mention anything positive. I find this strange and I only conclude that they do the work of Imperialism to curry favor with the Imperialists.

Second, seldom mentioned is that when Cuba was cut off from Soviet oil, petro-pesticides, and petro-fertilizers in 1991, she turned to biodynamic, organic methods and created a sustainable agriculture which still feeds her people. She developed biological means to combat agricultural pests as well. Furthermore, she developed a pharmaceutical industry that during COVID produced five vaccines, all with traditional methods (no mRNA).

The champions of socialism call themselves liberals, but they are intent upon abolishing liberty. They call themselves democrats, but they yearn for dictatorship. They call themselves revolutionaries, but they want to make the government omnipotent.

They promise the blessings of the Garden of Eden, but they plan to transform the world into a gigantic post office. Every person a subordinate clerk in a bureau.

Said by one of the high courtiers of the capitalist ruling class. Quinn Slobodian's book "Globalists: The End of Empire and the Birth of Neoliberalism" sums such imperial tools well. With the collapse of empires, they looked for a new anti-democratic way to keep the masses down. They found it in an encasement of the mythical "market" which was really an encasement of the capitalist class's ability to exploit the majority with no democratic offset. A global market for capital. As well as a new ideology to keep the people (the socialists) at bay.

The champions of socialism do not call themselves liberal, that is the bourgeois progressives. The champions of socialism call themselves socialists. They want a state that serves the people, which to the capitalist ruling class means "dictatorship", the dictatorship of the masses against the previous ruling class, as exists in China. Western democracy has always been fake, its a dictatorship of the ruling class hiding behind a performative democratic mask.
